SPORT
On Tuesday March 15th, GECKO Sports visited the Foundation students as part of the Sport Program. The session was certainly an action-packed and fun sporting experience in a non-competitive way. The dynamic program worked closely with improving balance, muscle development and strength. I hope the program gave the children the inspiration and confidence to be physically active!
On Tuesday 22nd and Tuesday 29th March, AFL AusKick visited Hampton Primary as part of our Foundation PE Program. The children experienced two skill-based sessions to introduce them to the game of Aussie Rules Football! Both sessions promoted the idea of having fun and getting hands on the ball to develop their hand-eye coordination. The children were able to practice their marking, handballing, as well as their kicking skills. Key terms used included ensuring the “laces of the football were pointing outwards” and the footy is shaped like a rocket when kicking. Well done to all the children for having a positive spirit and giving all the activities a go to improve their skills! Alana – Foundation PE
Regional Swimming – MSAC 28th March
Hampton had 6 students make the Regional swimming trials at MSAC; a fantastic effort. Our Boys Freestyle Relay team of Ted B, Jack B, Xavier E and Jenson G came 3rd in their race. Xavier Eagle also swam the 50m Backstroke (finishing a close 2nd) and won the 50m Breaststroke. Xavier will compete in the State titles for a second straight year! Skylar Service came a valiant 2nd in her 50m Breaststroke. Unfortunately Silla G injured herself a few days before the trials and was unable to compete in her 50m Backstroke. Well done to all our swimmers and good luck to Xavier at the States.
District Tennis
On Tuesday 29th March we had the Seaside District Tennis tournament. 7 players were chosen to represent Hampton, with Tim L and Harry B-F progressing to the final 8 in the boys section. Wanda B came second in the girls section (and was the only player to take a game off the winner) and progressed through to the Divisional tournament and was again able to come second (to the same player!). Well done to all who competed and good luck to Wanda on her next event next term.
MUSIC
The string program at HPS Continues to grow. In term 2 our junior string players will join this group and attend their own string ensemble. These videos show the amazing progress the students have made! Congratulations!
School band meets every Tuesday 8 am in the music room. This is the first time that we have included the string players. We are hoping to perform at assembly next term. Here’s a photo!
