Sport and PE Report

State Racquetball Competition

On Friday 25th October, eighteen students from Years 5 and 6 competed at the State Racquetball Competition at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to compete at the best facility in Victoria where the Australian Squash Open is played each year.

Our students performed bravely throughout the day, with our girls teams finishing 3rd, 6th, 7th and 8th and our boys in 7th and 8th. Well done to all of our students who had practiced over several sessions to improve their skills.

Regional Hoop Time Competition

Our Year 3/4 All Star Basketball Teams competed at the Regional Competition at the Nunawading Basketball Stadium on Tuesday 29th October. Both the boys and girls teams qualified for this event after progressing to overtime in the final on the District day held back in Term 3.

Both teams played very well throughout the day but unfortunately didn't progress through to the finals. A huge thank-you to Mrs Tainsh, Andrew (Finn 3RO), Pia (Remi 3/4T), Zafi (Anastasia 3RO) and the other wonderful parents for transporting, coaching, scoring and supporting our teams on the day

Year 3/4 Bike Ed Program

As you are all aware, our Year 3/4 students participated in a Bike Ed unit during PE for the first four weeks of term. Students were challenged in many areas, practicing their straight line riding, slow riding, scanning and bike safety skills. We were extremely fortunate to have Mr Batt's father, Adrian, a very experienced rider and former teacher attend each session to support our inexperienced riders and improve their confidence. As we approach the end of the year, it would be fantastic to have more students riding to and from school to reduce the number of cars on our roads.

Swimming Program 2019

All parents would have received information from Mr Batt about the Swimming Program that will be held towards the end of the year at Boroondara Sports Complex, with the Foundation to Year 2 students having their program from Monday 25th to Friday 29th November and the Year 3 to 6s from Monday 2nd to Friday 6th December. Please make sure that you read through this information carefully and that all permission, payments and swimming ability forms (Foundation and new students only) are completed by their due dates.

A reminder to contact your child's classroom teacher if you are able to assist with the bus travel and/or change rooms during the program. We require helpers so we can attend. A reminder that you will need to have a valid WWCC card if you are able to help.
