Poetic Embers

This term, 4E has been focussing on current situations happening within our state. The bush fires that have been burning in Northern NSW have been a concern for many students due to the continuing media coverage. In class, we have been reading the book “Fire” written by Jackie French and have produced our own poems based on the devastating outcomes that follow after a fire has burnt through an area.

Poem from a student in 3S

The Red Monster

Bleached gold hills turn into the red monster's wrath.

Trees bone black while the blood-red wall laughs higher and higher.

Ash falls from what feels like an eternal eclipse.

Animals dying, air's choking

While holding back the red monster.
