Treasure Hunters

This Term, in Geography, students in Stage 1 are learning about people and places in our world. They have been exploring Google Maps to view local, state, national and global areas. One of our activities 'Teddy Bear Treasure Hunt' encourages students to think Geographically and Mathematically using positional language and mapping skills to hide and find treasures around the school. Words such as 'left, right, forward, backward, beside, above, behind, after, etc' are used to direct students. They are also creating maps that include a compass, a key and directional language such as North, South, East and West to help the hunters find their treasure!
