Principal's Message

Transitions....and new beginnings

Term 4 is well underway and students are actively involved with their learning and class programs.

This is one of the busiest terms in the school year as we prepare to farewell our Year 6 students as they move into the next phase of their learning and transition to high school. We also begin the process of welcoming our new Kindergarten students for 2020 as Kindystart begins. Both transition points are supported by extensive programs to ensure all students are ready for the next step in their educational journey.

Over the next few weeks, our prospective student leaders will be working on their speeches to be shared with our school.  I know all students will do us proud. We would love to see as many parents as possible attending. I believe our current group of year five students have the leadership capacity to lead all of our students and continue the vision of the current leadership team. Good luck to all students involved.

As the weather continues to warm up can I ask that our parents ensure all children bring the appropriate school hat. Teachers do take the weather conditions and appropriate hydration into account when planning outdoor activities but wearing a hat is essential.

Please share any information with your class teacher that may assist us with class selections for 2020. If you have a particular request for your child’s class placement please send in a letter to the office addressed to Principal. Requests after Friday 6 December 2019 will not be considered. If possible, I will support the request. Please keep in mind that movement of children can be difficult. Many hours are spent ensuring special needs and the social development of students are met. These factors are taken into account when making classes but adapting to change is a life skill and is all part of each child’s developing resilience.

Looking forward to a great finish to the year.

Mr Dalkeith
