The Story of the Three Little Guinea Pigs
by Emily Keatley
Once upon a time in the jungle, there lived three little guinea pigs with their mum and dad. Dad said, “go find some food.” So off they went but when they were walking, they didn’t see the bad and sneaky eagle spying on them.
As soon as the sun sets and the bad and sneaky eagle was still sleeping, the three guinea pigs accidentally woke the bad and sneaky eagle. He was very angry and trapped the three little guinea pigs. Meanwhile, mum came and saw that the three little guinea pigs were trapped, she was very mad at the bad and sneaky eagle so she opened the trap door, and out came the three little guinea pigs.
“Let’s go find some food.” Said mum. While they were walking out, one of the guinea pigs saw some food on the side of the bad eagle’s nest. So they took the food and brought it home and lived happily ever after.

Once upon a time there were three little guinea pigs, they lived with their mother guinea pig. One day, the mother guinea pig said, “we need to do some shopping.” So they went to the shop. In the shop, the mother guinea pig gave them five dollars each so they could buy some toys.
Meanwhile, the big bad cat came over to see if they have any cat food. The cat saw the toys and took them. “What are we going to do?” said the guinea pigs but the big bad cat didn’t take the last guinea pig’s toy because it was a dog toy! The cat was scared of the dog bone, so he ran away and never came back. “Hurray!” Shouted the guinea pigs. The End.

Once upon a time, there lived three guinea pigs, they were happy in their own house, but after a while, they had to move out. When they were gone, their mother was very sad. They went to a place in the woods where it was peaceful with butterflies and other friendly creatures. The three little guinea pigs were disappointed for there was a bad owl.
They looked for things to build their house with. As soon as they got as much as they could, the first guinea pig made one out of straw, the second guinea pig made one out of sticks, and the third guinea pig made his out of bricks.
When the guinea pigs were sleeping, the owl came and said, “let me in so I can gobble you all up!”. The first guinea pig shouted, “no, I’m in a house so you cannot get me!”
“Let’s see!” said the owl and the owl tried to take all of the straw but they poked him so bad, it gave up and flew away. “Hurray!” shouted the three little guinea pigs.

Grade 3/4 - Camp
Last week, the long awaited 2019 Year 3/4 camp to Camp Wilkin came to be. On Wednesday 9th October, our students eagerly climbed aboard the bus and travelled for 1 hour to our destination in Anglesea. There, we met up with our Year 3 and 4 pen pals from the Heatherton site, caught up and shared our morning snack together.
We started out with a safety briefing from our host, Joash, and then got straight into our first set of rotation activities; Flying Fox, Low Ropes, Archery, Rock Climbing. It was really great to see the two groups of students from both sites mixing so happily together and encouraging each other. After a delicious dinner, everyone went on a ONE HOUR night walk! We were able to admire the quietness of the bush together and got to see some kangaroos heading off to bed. When we arrived back at Camp Wilkin, everyone also went off to their cabins to sleep.
On Thursday, after our last rotation group, we walked down to the beach for some beach activities led by Joash. We started off by having crab races and played tug-of-war. Then there was some free beach time to play. Sandcastles were built. There was a beach cricket game. A couple of students buried themselves in the sand. A few even “accidentally” fell into the water!! After a decent and wet walk back to camp, the students showered and cleaned up for some free time, dinner, and a well earned movie: The Lorax.
On Friday everyone packed up their cabins and zipped up their bags before our final breakfast. Our last activity was called The Amazing Race where we needed to work as a team in our groups to solve problems that the leaders had made. This was challenging and fun. The time had come to say our farewells to the HCC campus and make our way to the bus. After thanking the host staff at Camp Wilkin, we loaded the bus and ventured back to Wyndham.
It was fantastic to see all of our students mixing well and readily encouraging each other through difficult activities. A lot of students stepped out of their comfort zones and overcame challenges. A special thanks to our helpers Dee and Gabriel for volunteering their time to help out on our first WCC camp! We are already all looking forward to next year’s camping experiences!

In PE the students have started with a 4-week cricket program that was much anticipated. Mr. Fourie alongside Mr. Sumit Gupta has arranged for a cricket specialist from Cricket Victoria, Rohail Akhtar, to come and facilitate sessions on Tuesday, 15 October. The students had lots of fun learning about ball handling and teamwork. Mr. Akhtar also shared his resources with Mr. Fourie which he will use to complete the remaining 2 weeks of the cricket unit.
