Spotlight on...Mr Fourie, Physical Education.
Mr. Fourie was born in South Africa. From an early age he had a passion for sports and represented his school and clubs in a variety of sports. Rugby, cricket and athletics was amongst his favourites. He represented regional and state teams in both rugby and cricket. Injuries prevented him to continue as a player and he decided to study to become a PE teacher where he can channel his passion for sport towards student development.
Mr. Fourie is a competent, committed and experienced physical education teacher who has over 7 years of experience. He has an absolute passion for teaching and child development with the ability to easily connect with young children. He helped organised various sporting events, including rugby 7’s, gala tournaments and district athletics carnivals. Has taught various subjects to students of varied academic levels (year P-12) and diverse cultural backgrounds. Has been coaching rugby, cricket and athletics for more than 6 years with the ability to motivate, encourage and inspire children to develop physical activity and stimulate learning amongst students.
In his journey he coached rugby state teams in South Africa and represented the Melbourne Rebels where he was part of the talent development team for young players. As an athletics coach, his students represented both state and nationals in shot put.
Mr. Fourie obtained the role as the PE teacher in term 2 at Wyndham Christian College. Since the start of the year WCC have received over $10 000 in government grants from Sporting School Australia which Mr. Fourie applied for. These funds were used for programs like AFL, Gymnastics and Basketball which is still to come at the end of the year. Some of the funds were also used to buy new sport equipment like nets for volleyball and tennis, tennis racquets and some gymnastic apparatus.
Words from Mr. Fourie, “The future for WCC is bright and the possibilities endless. I am excited to be part of this growing community and can’t wait to awaken the sport spirit in every child.”
