Capital Works updates

With the relentless weather, and unforeseen matters, the estimated project date of completion is now late January.

Everyone involved in the Capital Works project thanks the CSPS community for their  ireless patience in what has been very trying circumstances over the past 3 years.

We are all determined to commence the 2023 school year with minimal Capital Works disruption.

The team continues to discuss measures that will put in place from late December to late January for this to be possible.

Policy ratification

School Council recently ratified the following policies.  All policies are located on our school website.

Child Safe Register

CSPS monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the implementation of the risk controls outlined in the Child Safety Risk Register on an annual basis.  The role of School Council is to evaluate the effectiveness and implementation of risk controls that have been considered.

Areas of risk include:

  • Propensity risk (1) Does our school understand the character of adults who engage with students in our school?  (2) Have staff, volunteers, contractors, and service providers been effectively vetted?(3) Does training undertaken by staff and volunteers work to reduce the risk of harm or child abuse? (4) How does our school set expectations for adult behaviour?
  • Situational risk (1) Are there opportunities for adults to be alone with students, unseen by others? (2) Are there opportunities for adults to form relationships with students that could lead to child abuse? (3) Are there opportunities for physical contact or emotional closeness that could lead to child abuse? (4) How does the physical environment of our school mitigate risks to child safety? (5) How does the online environment of our school mitigate risks to child safety?
  • Vulnerability risk (1) What circumstances or characteristics might make students in our school more vulnerable to harm or abuse?

School Council President

I would like to thank the School Council President, led by Jodi Price, for the seven years of service, six as President.

Jodi has been a significant support in the Capital Works journey of which I and our school are indebted.
