CBCA BOOK WEEK

Each year since 1945 the CBCA has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators. Classroom teachers, teacher librarians and public librarians create colourful displays, develop activities, run competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading. You will often see parades with students dressed as their favourite book character.

Tomorrow  morning, we will be having our Annual Book Character Parade (as part of Book Week Celebrations) and our Annual Spelling Bee. The Parade occurs at 9.00am in the Hall, followed by the Spelling Bee (commencing with our youngest students). Parents are welcomed to stay and watch the Spelling Bee taking place in the Hall after the parade tomorrow morning.

For students wearing Costumes that need to stay clean (or in tact), parents/carers may choose to help students return to school uniform for the remainder of the day (after the parade). Generally, most students enjoy wearing and sharing their costume for the whole of the day.

During the week, students have also been looking at our Child Book Council Award winning books in the Library, and choosing their favourite books to share and ‘vote’ for.
