A Message from the Principal

It is great to be back at school this week and to see all of the students excitedly playing with their friends and engaging in their work in the classrooms. Our gardens are blooming, the Chickens are thriving and there are so many great things to look forward. Please check the calendar page and add all of the special events to you diary.

We are delighted to welcome a new student and family to our school this week. It is great to have Maddie joining our prep class and we warmly welcome her parents Naomi and Justin also.

It is also lovely to welcome back Jenny to the office. Following months of recouperation, her foot is slowly improving, following the surgery. I am also very grateful that Maria was able to fill in for the term. Maria will continue to work in the office on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Working Bee

On Saturday, 15 October, we will be having a working bee to top up the garden beds with mulch and prepare two new garden beds for planting. We have been given a $500 grant to plant indigenous trees and shrubs in the adventure playground area.

We will begin at 10am - 2pm. If you can spare one hour that would be greatly appreciated. Everyone who attends will receive a $50 discount off their school fees.

Our final working bee for the year will be on Sunday 20 November, after the Parish Fete.

Sun Smart

As a Sun Smart School it is important that all students are wearing their hats this term, whenever they are outside. We also encourage all students to have their own supply of sunscreen in their bags so that they can apply it before each break.

All students are to wear their Summer Uniform this term, which is either navy shorts and navy polo top or the summer dress. Students need to be wearing navy blue socks and black school shoes. There is a two week crossover period, after which all students should be wearing their Summer uniform.

150 Year Celebrations

Please be sure that you have saved the date, Sunday 6 November, to join in our celebrations for the schools 150 Year Anniversary. We will be having a special Mass, Art Show and an Open Day to help celebrate this significant occasion in our school's history.

Art Show

All Parents are invited to the Opening of the St John's Art Show on Friday, 4 November at 7pm and the 150 Year Celebrations.

The students have been working hard all year, creating a variety of art pieces, using a range of textiles and media. To celebrate the Opening of the Art Show all parents and guardians are invited to come along for a social evening. There will drinks on arrival and canapes served throughout the evening. The students will be able to visit the Art Show with their classes on Friday or with their families on Sunday afternoon, 6 November.

The admission charge is only $5.00 per head.

Please RSVP on https://sjmitcham.cdfpay.org.au/MonitorOnline/app/#!/app/main

We look forward to seeing you there!

Marathon Club
