ITALIAN NEWS- Mrs Carmela Vozzo

During Term 3 students in Years 4, 5 and 6 have been looking at maps of Italy and connecting this country to a  continent. They have compared its size to Australia and have been equipped with crucial lifetime mapping skills.

Year 4s have discovered the 2 important mountain ranges which run through Italy - Gli Alpi and Le Appennini.

Year 5 and 6s have had a close look at Italy’s shape, its surrounding waters and its regions and capital cities.

Year 6s will be taking their drones to an Italian city of their choice and describing a particular human environment there.

Ecco il drone, vola di qua, vola di la’, dove si ferma non si sa!

Year 5s have read through the book - La Macchinetta Rossa and located the Italian cities it travelled through - Pompei, Roma, Bologna, Venezia, Le Alpi on the French/Italian border.

Year 3s have been learning vocabulary about the Environment and have made a model of the world. They then learned to introduce themselves to the world in Italian and expressed their opinion about the elements in the environment.

“ Ciao Mondo, mi chiamo…… Ho otto anni. Mi piace il sole. Non mi piace il vento!

Making the puzzle of Italy has helped the Year 2 students with the shape of Italy. Their inquisitive nature has taken them to another level. They also focused on a few Italian human environments: La Torre Pendente di Pisa e il Ponte Vecchio.

The children remarked on its height - ‘La Torre e’ alta.’

Year 1 students learned about La Piazza di San Pietro, La Basilica di San Pietro e Il Papa in Rome.

Foundation students learning how to say “Cosa ti piace?” They responded with “ Mi piace il gelato.”

Students have been in awe of the magnificent buildings and monuments in this unique,

historical country.

Magnifico lavoro ragazzi! Complimenti!
