Junior School

Father’s Day Breakfast

Thank you to everyone who was involved in the Father’s Day Breakfast. It is always a highlight each year and it is wonderful that so many dads, grandads and uncles were able to attend. Particular thanks to the Junior School staff who were on hand early to assist and to Mat Spencer who spoke to the boys and their dads about his experience as a Dad.  A very BIG thank you to the Year 5 Parents who were so generous in their donations for the raffle.

Wellness Week

This week was Wellness Week at Trinity College.  Our boys had many opportunities to engage in activities and talks which included Y-Safe cyber-safety talk, Silent Yoga, Parkour for the Year 4s as wells as the Boost Juice and Bubble Tea van.  Teachers were honoured to receive some beautiful Gratitude cards from our boys.  Gratitude is a wonderful thing!

Wheelchairs For Kids

On Thursday morning the Year 4 boys had a very meaningful visit to Brother Ollie’s Wheelchairs for Kids.  Early in Term 4 the boys will be running a special cake stall to raise funds to support the wonderful work that Brother Ollie and his volunteers do.

Behaviour Management

This year staff have worked together to review our behaviour management plan.  As stated in our policy, at Trinity, we are called to provide all students with opportunities to develop positive behaviours and self-discipline in a safe, supportive environment where mutually respectful relationships are the defining features. We need to be clear and concise about behavioural expectations, with definite and safe boundaries. Consequences also need to be consistent, clear and, prompt. Staff have recently reviewed the consequences for inappropriate behaviour in the Junior School and surveyed the Year 6 cohort in relation to demerit points. We have decided to trial the return of demerits in Term 4 with some differences to our previous system.  Demerits will be for behavioural choices only, not for organisation. Boys are being informed of the reintroduction over the next few weeks.

Charts will be displayed in classrooms and around the school and parents will be sent copies to ensure clarity for everyone in our Junior School community.

Prefects Corner

By Fred B (6G) and Jasper N (6W)

This week has been a blast! We have had a wonderful Wellness Week, thanks to the hard work of our Deputy Principal for Student Wellbeing, Mr Julian Fritz. The boys enjoyed the Boost Juice and bubble tea very much, and the teachers were thankful to have a coffee van on Thursday. Our students sent gratitude cards to the teachers that had helped them the most, which the teachers were very grateful for. The whole Junior School very much enjoyed the yoga, where we relaxed our minds and bodies. Our JPSSA Interschool Athletics Team is training for the upcoming competition. On Friday we had a 5 Blue assembly, at which our Boys in Groove dance group performed for us. We are very thankful for everyone donating to men’s mental health. The Year 4s went to Brother Ollie Picket’s wheelchairs for kids, where they learnt about the challenges faced by those who are disabled in developing countries. Everyone have a safe and happy weekend.
