Year 8 @ Camp Marysville

On Wednesday, 31st August, approximately 120 Year 8 students and 13 staff members left ESC and headed to Camp Marysville.

Upon arrival, students were given the opportunity to settle into their cabins; the same cabins that families lived in following the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009. Not long after, students participated in their first set of activities. These included a bushwalk and town visit, canoeing, climbing, abseiling, initiatives and Grow It Cook It.

During the evening, Camp Marysville staff facilitated a ‘Minute to win it’ challenge for half of the cohort whilst Mr. Harper & Mr. Marchbank facilitated a trivia activity. All students then came together for a ‘Movie Night’ where Monsters Inc. was selected as the movie of choice by some of the Year 8 students.

There were lots of sleepy faces on the morning of day two however that did not stop students partaking in the variety of activities offered by the camp. During the evening, the group came together yet again to watch the Brisbane Lions vs. Richmond Tigers elimination final and play board games. The energy was electric!

Before heading back to ESC, students rotated through their final activity and even worked in their activity groups to compete against one another in ‘The Mini Olympics.’ The cohort arrived back at ESC later that afternoon, with smiles on their faces knowing that they had just created new memories with their peers.
