Choose your own Adventure
12V Choose You Own Adventure Excursion
This semester our Senior VCAL students were asked to work in a team to research and plan a complex work-related activity.
While on the surface this may have appeared to be a fun day out in the city, the students learnt the vital steps that are required in organising an excursion. A thorough OHS risk assessment was completed by the students. In groups, they identified and discussed a range of other common issues, hazards and risks that may arise during an excursion and the conditions under which they might arise. Using the knowledge obtained in semester one they then developed and presented possible solutions for the issues identified to minimise risk.
Well done 12V on organising a successful and enjoyable day out. Thank you to Ms Gray for your support and giving up your valuable time to join us.

A reflection from our senior 12V students…
We had to organise where we were going to go, find an affordable option for all students to attend and figure out an efficient way to get there.
All students had to investigate an excursion that they would like to attend. They were required to develop a detailed feasibility plan for the project including aims, budget, timelines and measurable milestones. Students had to pitch their plan to the class in a Shark Tank type scenario where 17 different options were presented. After much discussion the class decided on the theme of “Choose your own adventure” .
Our aim was to organise a day out in the city where students would be given the opportunity to build their leadership and organisational skills through participation in fun group activities.
The day was a success and we arrived at Melbourne Central on time. We took part in three activities, bowling, Laser Tag and finally a scavenger hunt.
Congratulations to our bowling champions on the day …

Our milestones included social connection through a class activity, teamwork, communication and the ability to learn outside of the regular classroom.
