Term 3 draws to a close

As always I would like to thank the parents and carers of our students for the support they have given their children this term. While it has been great to have had another uninterrupted term we know there are challenges for our students in managing with the workload and I congratulate them all with having done the best they could.  I wish you all a safe and enjoyable holiday and look forward to seeing the students back on site on Monday 3rd October

Touring the Campus

The Parliamentary Secretary for Schools, Tim Richardson MP along with the local member Gabrielle Williams visited our Acacia Campus today. They toured the school and met with members of our student leadership team.

Gabrielle Williams has been the Minister for Mental Health and the Minister for Treaty and First Peoples since June 2022. Tim Richardson is the Parliamentary Secretary for Schools, which involves assisting the Minister for Education to support the more than 2,200 schools across Victoria.

As well as touring the school they also stopped in on a Year 8 Humanities class who we're looking at the topic of elections and compulsory voting. The students were quite fascinated at having two real life politicians there and listened carefully to the opinions  of both of them about how important it was to vote.

During their time at the campus we were joined by our Acacia Campus Captains - Lydia McCracken-Matthews and Jimmy Webster, our Student Voice Captain & School Council Representative - Aminah El-Omari, our Junior School Captains - Alastair Barrow and Lily Mackenzie. and our School Council President LeeAnne Theodorou.

Our student leaders were able to hear about their opinion on the importance of student mental health and wellbeing as well as the progress being made by a state government in the area of indigenous voice.

I would like to thank both Members of Parliament for their time here at the school and I look forward to taking them up on their offer to return again in the near future.

Recent significant events

We have recently held three significant events a the school that show how we are well on the way to returning school life back to normal.  They were

  • Face to face Parent Teacher Interviews
  • RED assemblies
  • Year 12 Formal

All three were very enjoyable events and I encourage you to read more about them in the Campus Principals Reports

Tutor Learning Initiative

The Victorian Government has today announced that the Tutor Learning Initiative will continue in 2023. This will enable schools to continue to provide students with targeted tutoring support. This is very pleasing news as many of our students have benefitted from this program over the last two years.

Building project

Progress is slow unfortunately – we are hoping to start knocking down the old buildings by the start of next term .
