a word from our leaders

Thank you

Thank you to all families for your tremendous support and encouragement in another unusual term! We began with lockdown and ended having been able to give students opportunities that some missed last year eg. Stage 3 camp. What a blessing!

Our Stage 2's had the chance to sleep in tents at school and our stage 1's have a Tea and Teddies night.

Students should be very proud of the opportunities seized during the term to strive to reach their potential.  Teachers too, are encouraged to enjoy a well-earned break, feeling satisfied with a level of support for students that demonstrates the highest commitment to their care and well-being.

I reflect on the term and see the dispositions and capabilities we often talk about shining through: resilience, flexibility, collaboration, empathy. What a special place to belong to!

The learning environment is a safe and supportive place to build self, social, emotional and spiritual capacity.

New Student

This week we welcomed Jasreet to Stage 2A.

We are excited to have her join our school, and look forward to her family being part of our school community.

Staff news

Next term we welcome back our Principal, David Wilksch from Long Service Leave.

Thank you to Lena Harmer for carrying out the Director - Administration role so capably during Term 3.

Thank you Lauren Humphrys for the care and expertise in teaching the 3H class for 4 days a week this term. We know we'll see you around the school in Term 4!

Thank you Janine Eggart for stepping into the role with 2J for the last 5 weeks. You are a blessing.

Janet Kuhlmann will take Term 4 as Long Service Leave, in her place we welcome back Anthea Shields. God's blessings, Janet for your break.

Sharon Tarca will return after two weeks of Long Service Leave at the beginning of next term. We wish Sharon and her husband every blessing as they take time out together.

Pastor Reid is being farewelled by the church on Sunday 31 October (our school 40th birthday celebration Sunday.) In his unassuming way, Reid shared in our school newsletter earlier in the term his decision to accept a call to St Andrew's Lutheran College on the Gold Coast. This message may have been missed by members of the community.

We as a school community will celebrate the blessing of Reid in a school chapel service on Wednesday 3rd November.

At the end of the holidays, our newest teacher, Donna Hughes (teaching in Stage 2) will marry Adrian King. We wish Donna and Adrian God's richest blessings for their special day and life together.

Facilities update

In recent weeks we have shared the building progress our new SP Playground. With final ground works to be completed, we look forward to this being operational in Term 4. Did you know that the funding of this playground has come from many years of parent led events such a Wine and Cheese Nights, Quiz Nights etc. These events have contributed $50,000 to the new playground.  THANK YOU to all those people who have put up their hand to run events such as these, and to those who have attended. The support of community events contribute greatly to the learning outcomes for our students.

State Government Capital Grants Program

We received notification this week that our grant application for $90,000 for capital works from the state government has been successful. This will be used to update our SP toilet facilities area. We are grateful for this opportunity.
