Visual Art

The Foundation students have been recreating works of art inspired by Claude Monet. Their master pieces are currently lining the corridor of the Admin Building.  Great work students!

Literacy

We are now deep into our Narrative writing with students being able to complete retells of familiar fairy tales which include the Orientation (the Ohh! and Ahh! Parts), the Complication (the Uh-Oh! Part) and the Resolution (the Phew! Part).  Our students have also been working hard to achieve or improve on their writing goals and have been making tremendous improvements in our decoding reading sessions.  Don’t forget to let your child practise their decodable reader each night and record the title of the book on the day it was read in their diary.

Numeracy

Last week students were introduced to division where they had a variety of activities to practise the idea of a ‘fair share’.  This week we are back to subtraction and will be completing a variety of ‘real life’ subtraction scenarios and working out the best way to solve these problems.

Foundation Performing Arts

Please remember your child needs to come to school dressed in their performing arts costume/shirt for Thursday 28th October (this week!)

Year 1 and 2

Digital Technology

In Digital Technology, students have been learning about coding. They have been discussing devices that use the ‘if...’ ‘then...’ code. For example ‘if’ an app is clicked ‘then’ that app will open. Students put this knowledge into practise through using the programming website code.org. This website is free and does not require a subscription to access the guided lessons.

A number of students have asked for the link to this website which can be found below:

Concert Reminder

Families are reminded that students will wear their concert costumes to school this Thursday, the 28th of October. The costume items for each class can be seen below. We want to say a big thank you to families for their patience and understanding with these changes. We can’t wait to see the kids getting involved on Thursday!
