FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Continuous effort – not strength or intelligence – is the key to unlocking our potential.

To the St Nicholas School Community

TERM 4 - WEEK 2

2021 has presented great challenges, and the St Nicholas school community has not been immune to these challenges. For many, financial pressures have increased. Individuals' mental health is suffering, along with the emotions of being unable to connect in person with loved ones and friends.

It is important to acknowledge our children are also being affected by the challenges of 2021. After five weeks of home learning, one less-structured week onsite (focusing on wellbeing and assessment) and two weeks holiday, our children have endured 8 weeks away from a regular St Nicholas School day.

Eight weeks is far longer than any Christmas break, and could never have been considered a relaxing time. It is therefore not surprising, as a whole, our students are taking some time to transition back into the structure of a St Nicholas school day. With current restrictions preventing assemblies and the congregation of multiple grades, it is difficult for our students to hear the one consistent message.

To support our students, and after collaboration with our teaching staff, on Tuesday Mrs Daley, Mrs Dunst and myself spoke to each grade. We presented to our students what we value at St Nicholas, what it means to be a St Nicholas student!

Please feel free to once again go through this presentation with your children, to support them in re-establishing what it means to be a St Nicholas School student.

Confirmation

Our Year 6 students are continuing their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation on 27th and 28th November. While we keep these students in our prayers, enjoy a short clip which displays their creativity and understanding of the saint they have chosen to be reflected in their name.

Have a great weekend.
