Class Celebrations

Celebrating the growth in our wonderful children on each learning level...

Grade Prep

This week, Prep students have been learning all about mass. They have used hefting and balance scales to measure and compare the mass of objects. Students have practised using key vocabulary such as heavier, lighter and equal to describe mass.

Grade 1

Last week the Grade 1 students took part in a drama incursion about fairy tales. The students dressed up as their favourite fairy tale characters and used their body language, facial expressions and voices to recreate familiar stories. As Dwarves, Witches, Wizards, Dragons, Mice, Cats, Wolves and Pigs the students immersed themselves in this imaginative incursion and got lost in the story. The Grade 1 students had so much fun and look forward to participating in more drama activities!

Grade 2

This week, Grade 2 students participated in a woodwork workshop where they begun building robots using different materials. Students were exceptional at sanding, gluing and hammering. We are looking forward to continuing our workshop next week.

Grade 3/4

The Grade 3 and 4 students have had a fantastic week of learning, showing their teachers that they haven't missed a beat since our extended period away from school. We used the crowd-favourite program Quizlet which allowed our students to revise their understanding of 2D and 3D shapes using an element of cognitive theory, spaced practice. The classes also put their knowledge of 2D shapes to the test with a team-based problem-solving challenge.

This week was the 103rd anniversary of the Armistice (often called Remembrance Day). The Grade 3/4s had a visit from some friendly Prep buddies and they worked together on a Remembrance Day artwork.

Grade 5 & 6

During Circle Solutions this week, the students discussed the importance of positive self-talk. We identified positive self-talk phrases that could be used in various situations. The students split into groups of 3 to complete some role-play. They were given a scenario and they had to create a scene which showed positive and negative self-talk arguing against one another. Who knew we had such fantastic actors and actresses in our grade!

Special Achievement:

Congratulations to Hayden in Grade 5 who has finished the entire Maths Invaders program. Wow! Hayden has worked carefully over a few years to play 4 games a week. He has always given his games his full effort so he passed each level and therefore learned new maths skills. We are so proud of you, Hayden!
