Specialist Timetable

A reminder of our Specialist timetable. Students must wear full sports uniform on their PE day.

Wushka

To ensure students continue to practise their reading at home, we are trialling an online library called Wushka which can be found on https://wushka.com.au/login/. Please see Seesaw under the ‘Goals’ folder for your child’s username and password. Now that we are back onsite, students should continue to read aloud at home at least 4 times a week. This is vital in supporting the development of their reading skills. Please email your child’s class teacher if you have any issues accessing Wushka.

Seesaw

We ask that families still check Seesaw Family for positive news and fortnightly feedback on their child’s learning. Students will continue to access Seesaw Class at school for small group work.

Trash Puppets: Recycled Materials Needed!

On Wednesday 17th November, Prep students will be taking part in a ‘Trash Puppet’ Workshop. They will learn about sustainability whilst making a puppet made of recycled materials. As part of this workshop, students are encouraged to prepare and bring their own recycled materials to work with.

Please see the attached document for more information on the types of materials to collect. Students should bring their materials to school in a named bag on Wednesday 17th November.

Reminders:

Homework

Most students are readjusting to normal school routine which includes the completion of homework each evening after school from Monday to Thursday. Please continue to ask your child if they have completed their Mathletics (200-1000 points) for the week. Please also continue to sign your child’s diary each night to confirm that they have completed their 30 minutes of reading.

Uniform

This week we completed a uniform spot check. As we have strict uniform protocols in place, we ask that students either wear the full winter uniform or the full summer uniform. Please ensure that they are not wearing a mix of both. When wearing the correct uniform, this gives our students a sense of belonging and pride. It also shows unity and identity. In much the same way football followers will wear their team’s jersey or scarf, a uniform builds a sense of our SMPS community.

Makeup

It has come to our attention that some students are presenting to school with makeup on. As you are aware, makeup on students is not allowed in school. Wearing makeup from a very young age can have many impacts not only on student’s skin but also on their body image wellbeing. It may also put pressure on their peers to wear makeup. We encourage you to speak to your child about these impacts.

Mobile Phones

If your child is bringing their mobile phone to school, they are expected to sign it in at the office in the morning before they go up the stairs. They can collect their phone at the end of the school day.
