Junior Class - Mrs Creek

The chosen story for this week involves vehicles from a construction site. It is called, ‘Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site’ by Sherri Tinker. There is a Dump Truck, Cement Mixer, Bulldozer, Crane and Excavator. They work hard during the day and at night go to sleep. Each page has its own set of rhymes. We also get to enjoy the story as a song.

In writing, we are making our sentences more detailed by adding conjunctions (but, so) and adjectives.

For Mathematics this week, the focus is on 10. Some students are learning the friends of ten facts and others are learning to see a 10 when they add three numbers together.

A great week!

Middle Class - Miss Williams

This week has been lovely to have our whole class back together for two whole days and we can’t wait until next week when we can have two more days together again!

We have been working on relating our text ‘The Recess Queen’ to other books that are similar or different and we have found quite a few of these.

In Writing we have written some narrative stories with a focus on paragraphs and contraction for Year 3s and commas and capital letters for proper nouns for Year 2s.

In Maths the Year 2s have been working on covering areas in patterns and beginning to look at partitioning three-digit numbers, while the Year 3s have been partitioning four-digit numbers and rounding to the nearest ten, hundred or thousand.
