Year 8 Quest Retreat

Last weekend saw the Year 8 boys undertake the Quest Retreat. The aim of the Quest Retreat is for the Year 8 students to come to a greater appreciation of the value that their various relationships: family, friends, peers, have in their lives. The boys came together on Friday afternoon to commence the retreat with Mass. Following Mass, the Year 8’s went to the Sports Centre. Here they were directed by the Year 11  Peer Ministers to learn from the Year 12 Cadre about the various ways that they can perform Christian Service. Topics included the Kimberley Immersion, Soup Patrol and Eddie Rice Camps for Kids.

On Saturday the boys spent the day at the College to further deepen their understanding of how they can learn from their Year 11 and 12 mentors. The day started with the food drive for Saint Vincent de Paul, canned food items collected by the Year 8 boys in the week before the retreat. Our Year 10 Roadies were here bright and early to assist the loading of the generous donations of cans and alike in to the Vinnies Van. Our second crew of Year 10 Roadies then were hard at it cooking lunch for one and all.  On the Saturday the boys were engaged in activities such as interviewing Mercedes Year 11 students about respectful friendships.

A very big thank you to the Year 11 and 12 students who volunteered their time to make the retreat a success and the many staff who likewise gave up time to support the Year 8’s.
