Kinder Afternoon Tea a treat for mums!

Our Kinder Wallabies and Platypuses celebrated Mother’s Day early at SMC today with a special afternoon tea. Mums and mother figures were treated to lots of cuddles, fun games and a fabulous high tea spread filled yummy treats. What a lovely way to spend a cold and rainy afternoon!

Grandparents and Special Friends' Day

Grandparents and 'grand' friends from near and far were warmly welcomed into the Junior School on Wednesday 5 April for a morning of activities and excitement.

Our special guests were treated to a delicious morning tea and the opportunity to visit their grandchildren's classrooms, where they enjoyed quality time together reading books, playing games, drawing and dabbling in arts and crafts. Thank you to all who attended and helped make the day so memorable.

More photos from Grandparents and Special Friends' Day can be viewed on the College website here.

Easter bunny hops into Kinder

The magic of Easter was felt around the College at the end of last term, but a surprise appearance from Edna the bunny brought an extra dose of joy and excitement to our Kinder classroom. Edna visited the Kinder students to deliver a letter from the Easter Bunny and left behind a trail of yummy treats hidden in the Kinder playground for students to forage for.

Palm Sunday liturgy

Junior School students celebrated Palm Sunday on Monday 3 April with a lovely liturgy that recreated the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.

Students waved palms and sang Hosanna! as they made their procession into the Cathedral.

Thank you to Year 2 Wombats for leading the liturgy and sharing the story of Palm Sunday so beautifully.

Author visit captivates Year 4s

Students in 4 Bluegum were left spellbound following a visit from local children's author, Lian Tanner last term.

Imaginations ran wild as Lian took students through the creative writing process, explaining how a story is created and how to make a good story great.

Lian's visit coincided with the launch of her latest fantasy book, Spellbound, which we can't wait to delve into.

A special shoutout to SMC Teacher Librarian, Marylouise Jones, who had the joy and privilege of being the MC for Lian's book launch at Libraries Tasmania on 22 April.

Donations bring Easter joy

Thank you to all students, families and staff who generously donated towards our Vinnies Easter Egg Appeal. These delightful gift hampers, filled to the brim with an assortment of chocolate eggs and bunnies, were delivered to the St Vincent de Paul Society and distributed over the Easter weekend via Loui's Van.

Growing—and Tweeting—in faith

A number of Senior School students recently had the privilege of participating in a Q&A session with Tweeting with God author, Father Michel Remery. The session was hosted by St Mary's College with students from several other Catholic schools also in attendance.
