PATHWAYS & CAREERS

Our Year 11 students had an opportunity to attend the VCE Careers Expo in Melbourne on Friday, May 5th, followed by a tour of the Monash University (Caulfield) campus.  It was a very busy day, but a wonderful opportunity for students to speak with many further education providers about courses.

Year 9 Pathways

Over the last two weeks during their Pathways class, all Year 9 students have been on an excursion to SuniTAFE. The tour included learning more about the Trade Centre, the classroom facilities and the variety of classes offered at SuniTAFE - including VET Automotive and VET Engineering.  We are very grateful to the staff for making time on four different occasions to ensure all the students were able to attend. 

Forward Planning 

All Victorian Universities and further education providers hold Open Days where they can showcase their courses and campus facilities to prospective students. We recommended that interested students in both Year 11 and 12 register for events so they don’t miss out on an event they are very keen to attend. Please check other provider websites for their upcoming Open Days.

Registration for the UCAT 

Year 12 students who are planning to sit the UCAT as part of Medicine and Dentistry course pre-requisites have until Wednesday, 17th May, to register. 

The test helps Universities select applicants with appropriate abilities/professional behaviours required for these courses.  More information is available at https://www.ucat.edu.au

Gap Year – ADF

Year 12 students considering taking Gap Year, may be interested in a Gap Year with the Australian Defence Force. This is a fantastic opportunity not only to experience what a career in the Navy, Army or Air Force could be like, but to have a year full of adventure, new friends, new skills, leadership and travel. There is no commitment to join the defence force at the end of the year.

10A Work Experience

The majority of students from 10A have been on their work experience placements this week.  It has been great to visit them and hear about their days working in an industry area of their choice. As always we are very grateful for the support of numerous local businesses who willingly support our work experience program by offering placements. 

Alternative placements dates will be made for those who did not take part this week.
