Dear Sacred Heart School Community,
Prayer
School Uniform
Our School Board has been discussing some issues around school uniform, in particular the uniform our girls wear. It has become apparent that there is a need to address the appropriateness of the summer and winter uniform for our girls with our ever changing weather patterns and the blurring between the seasons of summer and winter and the need for comfort and "modesty" for our girls especially during physical activities at recess and lunch.
*As in past years, there will be no definite date in term 2 when students will be required to be wearing their winter uniform. We are leaving the decision to parents to decide when the weather has turned and their child will be comfortable wearing their winter uniform. For example the first two weeks of this term saw days of 20 degrees with the weather finally turning wintery this week.
*The same will happen in fourth term. Parents can decide when summer like conditions have arrived for their child to commence wearing their summer uniform.
* As already indicated earlier this year, we support the decision of our families to allow their daughters to wear black leggings/tights both on cold days in summer and during winter. If your daughter is currently wearing green tights or leggings we ask you to replace them with black when it is time to do so.
*We also support our girls wearing "shortish" bike shorts under their summer and/or winter uniform. As to whether our uniform shop will sell these items of clothing, please await further notice
*Our graduation t-shirt for our Year Six students will be replaced in 2024 with a graduation jumper.
*Finally a reminder that we have school beanies (as modelled by our students in the photo below) for the winter months selling for $15.00 from our uniform shop.
Mother's Day
Mother's Day Stall
A reminder that our Mother's Day Stall takes place tomorrow commencing at 9.00 am with our Year 5/6 students who have interschool sports later in the morning. It is a great opportunity for our students to buy a gift for their mums (or other significant person in their life) for the very reasonable price of $5.00. All students can purchase two gifts if they so wish.
The life of a Mum….
I want to share a little conversation I had with my son Ethan when he was 5yrs old.
Mum : Ethan can you please vacuum mummy’s hair that has fallen all over the bathroom?
Ethan: Why me, it’s your hair mummy?
Mum:I gave birth to you which caused my hair to fall out so you're responsible to vacuum it up.
Ethan : Ok mummy I’ll vacuum your hair.
The next day ….
Mum: Ethan can you please vacuum mummy’s hair up again?
Ethan: Mummy, why don’t you shave your hair off that way your hair will never fall out and I don’t have to vacuum it.
Mum: Speechless
This is the joy of motherhood!
Motherhood is the ultimate roller coaster with many joys and sorrows, laughter and screams, mayhem and celebrations. I never thought I could be a chef, doctor, taxi driver, therapist, coach and comedian all in one. But since having kids I’m all of this and more. Who would have thought becoming a mum makes you a SUPERWOMAN.
Happy Mother’s Day.
Regards
Monica
I have learnt that when a newborn kangaroo is born, it is roughly the size of a jelly bean and it does this epic crawl up to the mother’s pouch and spends the next few months in there. And the kangaroo mother, rather than forming strong bonds with other female adults, prefers keeping close to her offspring. This relates so much to me and my lil joey! I moved to this ‘land of kangaroos’ to realise that motherhood is completely and totally overwhelming (in the best possible way) by love, joy, responsibility, and selflessness!
When ‘Kushi’ (my lil joey) was born she had this intense gaze and furrowed brows like she hated to be outside of my womb! Little did she know then that mummy would look after her even safely outside just like the kangaroo would safeguard her joey in her pouch! ‘Kushi’ like the name goes has brought not just ‘happiness’ to my life but ‘life’ to my motherhood!
Cheers

"As a mother of three and a full-time worker, it has been a challenging journey for me, especially when my twins were very young. Balancing work and family responsibilities was not easy, but I gradually realised the value of my efforts and consistency in the motherhood process. The experience has been incredibly rewarding, and I have come to appreciate the bravery it takes to undertake this career of raising little ones.
No one is ever fully prepared for the journey of motherhood, but with determination, patience, and love, we can make it through the tough times. Being a mother requires immense sacrifices, but the joy of seeing our children grow and thrive makes it all worth it. I am proud to be a mother and grateful for the opportunity to help shape the lives of my little ones."

Nathan Lambert Visit
Our local member Nathan Lambert visited our school on Tuesday to discuss issues around parking and traffic flow. I highlighted the need for our crossing to be more visible and the possibility of parking being allowed along Bell Street outside the church from 3.00pm until 3.45pm each night.
NINO Visit
We welcomed our friends from NINO child care and Kindergarten this morning when they visited their buddies in Year 3/4. Thank you Denise for coordinating this ongoing relationship with NINO.
