Excursion RAA Road Safety
On Tuesday the 11th of April the Year 2 students had the opportunity to visit the RAA Road Safety Centre and the Art Gallery of South Australia.
Students have been learning about various ways to keep themselves safe. A visit to the Road Safety Centre was the perfect chance to put learning into practice.
Paper Making
This term, Year 2 students at St Gabriel’s School have been busy making and cooking all types of things.
In Science, we have learnt about how materials change. We spent some time learning about paper and the process required to make recycled paper. After learning about the process students had the chance to make their own recycled paper using a special kit from KESAB.
Weaving
Students had the opportunity to explore how Indigenous people use materials for different purposes when they participated in a weaving incursion with Ngarrindjeri/ Ngadjuri artist Sonya Rankine.
Kite Making
In Design and Technology, we have been learning about forces. Students used their knowledge about pushes and pulls to design and make their own recycled kite from paper or plastic. Some students flew these kites at the Kite Festival held at Semaphore over the long weekend.
Visual Arts
This term in Visual Art, students have been learning about Pop Artists including Andy Warhol. Students participated in a portrait drawing workshop at the Art Gallery of South Australia’s studio.
