Year 1/2–Celebrating Learning

What have we been up to?

1/2s have completed their look into the local community and places that are important to them. They identified and created visual representations of things that are special to them and added them to their classroom murals. This also linked with the gardening program and will continue to do so into Term Two.

What’s to come in the next two weeks:

Following on from our investigation into our local community, students will begin to investigate the following questions -

  • How can we use our knowledge of living things to look after Country?
  • How does the environment support the lives of people and other living things?
  • How can people use places and environments more sustainably?

To support our unit of work, we are all very excited about our upcoming excursion to the Melbourne Zoo on Wednesday 17th May.

In Literacy, we will focus on the sounds ‘or’ and ‘er’ and the different letter patterns that can make these sounds. We are also looking at information reports about animals.

In Maths, we are looking at addition, subtraction and chance.
