Year 5/6 Mainstream–Celebrating Learning

This term the 5/6 student will be looking at Science: Earth and Space Sciences as part of their focus unit. They will be investigating sudden geological changes and extreme weather conditions such as volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, drought and floods. They will look at framing their research through questioning and using scientific observation tools such as Predict, Observe & Explain to conduct experiments that connect to our exploration of geological changes and extreme weather conditions.

BIG QUESTIONS

- How do geological changes affect the Earth's surface?

- How do people respond to geological change?

5/6s will complete a number of experiments used to simulate the experiences of extreme weather and geological change.
