Term 2 Sport!
Welcome back to another great term full of sport. It is indeed a busy one with so many opportunities already planned. At present we have the Sydney Cross Country for selected students, our annual Athletics Carnival (2-6), St Patricks Games (K-1), Year 6 Interschool Football, Year 4 Interschool Football Gala Day, Years 3-5 Boys Basketball Gala Day and the Year 5-6 AFL Paul Kelly Cup. Not to mention the few students who will be representing at MacKillop and NSWPSSA levels for various sports.
Student Representatives
MacKillop Hockey
Audrey P will be in her element at the Mackillop Hockey Trial this Friday, 5th May in Canberra. We look forward to hearing the result. Good-luck!
NSWPSSA Tennis
Petar S has been waiting a very long time for the NSWPSSA Tennis held next week in Albury. With the first tennis trial held in Term 4 of 2022, Petar is looking forward to giving it his best shot out on the court. Good-luck Petar.
Cross Country Primary Championships
A hard copy note has been sent home to all students who placed 1st-4th at our schools Cross Country trial for the Primary Schools Cross Country Championship on Wednesday, 24th May held at Sydney Motorsports Park. Please return the last page of this note at your earliest convenience. Keep the front 2 pages as it contains all the information required for the day.
Our school is in the PM session and gates to Sydney Motor Sports Park will open from 11:15am, no earlier. The first event will marshal at 11.55am. This is a very busy event so please ensure you allow adequate travel and parking time. I will meet with all Cross Country attendees the week before the Championships to answer any questions.
Sutherland Sharks Basketball Gala Day
The annual Sutherland Sharks Basketball Gala Day for Year 3-6 is being played on various days at Sutherland Basketball Stadium. However the school calendar is a very busy one and the only dates we can offer to our students for 2023 are for boys in Years 3-5. Unfortunately all the other dates clashed with other school events including our annual Athletics Carnival. Keep in mind, there will be many other opportunities for gala days throughout the year.
The dates for the boys are:
- Year 5: Monday, 15th May
- Year 3 and 4: Monday, 29th May
This is an opt in event, therefore if your Son is interested in attending please fill in the Registration Form before Friday, 5th May. After registrations close, the official permission form will be communicated with you via COMPASS.
AFL Paul Kelly Cup - Year 5 & 6
Our school has been invited to participate in the Paul Kelly Cup which is the Premier Primary School AFL competition in the state. The day is for Year 5 and 6 students in the divisions of girls and boys. It will be held on Wednesday, 7th June 2023 at Waratah Park, Sutherland. St Patrick’s entered last year and the parent feedback was very positive with most students playing for the first time. Parents are required to organise transport for their child to and from the ground.
Please register your child via this Online Registration Form by Friday, 12th May 2023. Permission forms will be sent via Compass after your child has been registered.
Annual 2-6 School Athletics Carnival
Our annual school Athletic Carnival will be held at The Ridge Sporting Complex on Monday, 5th June 2023 for Years 2-6. Our Kindergartens and Year 1 will participate in a fun St Patricks Games Day on a separate date which is yet to be confirmed. Information regarding the carnival will be communicated via COMPASS over the coming week. This will contain all details including consent of attendance, event structure, event registration forms and parent helper volunteers. Please ensure you provide consent and fill out any necessary paperwork well before the due date to ensure the smooth running of the carnival. We encourage all families to save the date to come along and cheer the students on.
Interschool Sport
Term 2 Year 6 Football (soccer)
With all trials complete, students are ready to get Interschool sport underway. We wish all our teams the best of luck over the next few weeks as they compete against the schools in the Sutherland network at The Ridge Sporting Complex. The draw and any other relevant information has been shared via COMPASS. Enjoy, Year 6!
Term 2 Year 4 Interschool Football (Soccer) Gala Day
Over the next few weeks our stage 2 parents will receive correspondence about the Football (Soccer) Interschool Gala Day hosted by Sydney Catholic Schools. This a non-competitive gala day with no progressions to finals. Keep an eye out for communication via COMPASS with details on how to register your child for this gala day. The date for this gala day is Tuesday, 27th June
Term 3 Year 5 Oz-Tag
Year 5 Interschool Oz-tag will run in Term 3. The structure will be the same as Year 6 Football minus finals. Information will be sent home towards the end of Term 2.
Term 3 Year 4 Interschool Oz-Tag Gala Day
This a non-competitive gala day hosted by Sydney Catholic Schools. Information on how you can get your child registered for this day will be shared at the start of Term 3.
