assistant principal's message

Dear parents and carers,

Reports

Next Thursday 25th of June, your children’s reports will be uploaded onto Sentral for you to view. I know from a parent perspective, reading your child’s report is an exciting time. As you are reading your child’s report this semester, you will notice fundamental differences in both the layout and the information provided.

The Department of Education and Training has adjusted the expectations of Student Reports for Semester 1 in recognition of the transition to remote and flexible learning during Term 2.

We are providing a written report for the parent/carer of each student enrolled at the school for Semester 1. The report includes information on student achievement for each curriculum area taught, however, there are some changes from our usual Semester 1 reports.

Student reports for Semester 1 2020 include:

  1. a description of the areas of the Victorian Curriculum F-10 taught
  2. a general comment regarding student learning achievement, based on the Victorian Curriculum F-10 for the subject areas taught
  3. a comment on how the student has adjusted to the remote and flexible learning environment.

As per department guidelines for reporting this semester, we have not included teacher judgements and a five-point scale due to the unprecedented changes to our program due to COVID-19. We will report on progress at the end of the year.

Parent Teacher Interviews:

In week 3, term 3, we will be holding our parent teacher interviews. The Department of Education’s guidelines regarding family access to school premises, will determine how these will be ‘held’. Further information will be provided as soon as this becomes available to our school.

LEGO competition:

As families will be aware, during our time of remote learning, JSC and Wellbeing held a LEGO Competition. We were all VERY EXCITED when the Brickman, AKA Ryan Mc Naught agreed to judge the creations. Congratulations to everyone for your creations, you should all be proud of your efforts. Below lists the finalists:

A special contribution:

As a community, we celebrate our how unique and valuable each and every member is. We in fact nurture this. The following contribution by Luqmaan Jama is a powerful illustration of all that we hold as special. From my perspective Luqmaan’s contribution is an example of the importance of home school partnerships in supporting Luqmaan to be the inspiring young man he has become. I hope you enjoy sharing this as much as we did. Please go to the following link:

Thanks Luqmaan!

Take care,
