St Mary MacKillop

1/2S and 3/4D celebrated the Feast day of St Mary MacKillop last Friday. It was a lovely Mass and all the students participated in one way or another. 

Year 7 Mass 

On Friday 14 August, Year 7 will be celebrating Mass as cohort. The Mass will focus on the the martyr St Maximilian Kolbe. Mass will begin at 9:15am.

Saint Maximilian Maria Kolbe, was born January 8, 1894 Poland and died August 14, 1941. His feast day is August 14. Maximilian was canonised on October 10, 1982 by Pope John Paul II. Maximilian was a Franciscan priest and religious founder martyred by the Nazis for aiding Jewish refugees during World War II.

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Church celebrates the Feast Day of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary on 15 August. According to our faith, the Holy Mother, “having completed her course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory”.

The Assumption signals the end of Mary’s earthly life and marks her return to heaven to be reunited with Jesus. While the bodies of both Jesus and Mary are now in heaven, there is a difference between the Assumption and the Resurrection. Where Jesus arose from the tomb and ascended into heaven by his own power, Mary’s body was taken up to heaven by the power of her Son. For this reason we use different words to describe each event. One is the Ascension of Christ and the other, the Assumption of Mary.

First Reconciliation & Holy Communion

Year 3 students have begun their preparation for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and Holy Communion. There will NOT be an information evening or an enrolment process due to Covid restrictions. A note has been sent home with further details. A reminder that the note and $10 is now due.
