Winter Appeal 2020

The end of Term 2 saw the conclusion of the annual Winter Appeal. While we have not been able to complete much social outreach work, the young men of St Pius worked as a community to provide donations in aid of St Vincent de Paul and the Jesuit Refugee Service. Each day Year 9 students organised the collection of goods from homeroom classes before packing these in storage ready for delivery.

The conclusion of the term saw a number of classes work together to ensure that all of the donations were packed and organised ready for delivery to the relevant agency. All non-perishable items were delivered to the vehicles of volunteers from the OLD Parish. The items were driven to the Northmead offices of the Jesuit Refugee Service. While the school bus was loaded with the warm clothing and blankets before being delivered to the St Vincent de Paul sorting warehouse at Brookvale.

Thank you for your generous support of the Winter Appeal. Many people at this time have found difficulty in meeting basic needs required to lead a dignified life. This work has once again helped us as a community to live by the touchstones that we hold dear and that characterise us as an EREA school.

Chapel Mass

On Tuesday we marked the start of Term 3 with our Chapel Mass, hosted by Miss van Riet's Religion class.  Fr Jim provided a wonderful start to the term, asking the young men to look ahead to a term of sport and hard work.  We were also fortunate that Fr Jim could provide the opening prayer for the term over the public address system; a prayer asking for each student to work hard and be the best they could be with all they have this term.

We look forward to our next Chapel Mass in a fortnight's time, to be hosted by Mr Hartnett's Year 9 class.
