Principal Report

Welcome back!

Welcome back

I would like to warmly welcome you all back to school for term 3.

I hope you all managed to remain safe & warm during the holiday period.  It is difficult to relax and enjoy the break in uncertain times, but I hope you all spent some quality family moments together, that we sometimes don't get an opportunity to enjoy...

Assemblies

For term 3, we will hold whole-school online WebEx assemblies every even week, making next Friday 24 July our first assembly for this term.  Each assembly will be held at the earlier time-slot of 2:30 pm to allow for the F-2 early pick-up with parents.

Restrictions

As you are all no doubt aware, all of our "Term 2 Return from Remote Learning" restrictions are still being enforced at school.  These are to remain in place for the foreseeable future, and I will certainly provide updates with an increase or decrease in these restrictions once confirmed and required.

It has been noted, a very small number of parents/carers taking liberties beyond the restrictions ie entering the site to quickly drop off their child to class or to catch up with a teacher.  This endangers all of us, and I implore you to see this through, with wisdom and compliance.

Foundation parents only, are permitted on-site daily, for drop off and pick up.  All parents are permitted on-site, if they can't attend to their needs via phone, email or other modes of communication.  In this instance, you must first register at our Administration office.

Students' recess & lunch eating

Under the current restrictions, we are operating an altered timetable for our F-2 students, to avoid all students in the playground at the same time.

As such, students in those year levels are eating at differing times to their normal program.

Students in all year levels are still provided the same amount of time at recess & lunch to eat their snack or meal.

We are vividly aware all children consume food at different speeds - some graze, some inhale!  Teachers, from the beginning of the year, learn quickly who is who in regards to eating habits, and adjust accordingly to give them every opportunity to consume all the food you provide.

This is a vital part of the day for students and staff.  Successful eating habits assist the flow of the day for all children and particularly assists classes to focus and settle in an appropriate way.

I can assure you, staff do their best to support all children to eat all of their food daily, but as you would understand it can be challenging and near impossible to ensure.

I encourage you, should you be having issues with your child eating at school, to contact your teacher and work toward a plan for success.

Mr Searl

During our term 2 holiday period, Mr Searl was successful in gaining a one term Acting Principal role at Landsborough Primary School.  On behalf of the school we wish him well and I'm sure when he returns he will arrive with further personal growth and skills for us at Miners Rest PS.

During term 3, Ms Bigmore will be acting in the operation & well-being role for the first 3 weeks, and from weeks 4-10, Ms Kelly will assume the acting position.

I'd like to thanks everyone for their agility and understanding with the changed roles.

I acknowledge the First People of the Wathaurong, who are the traditional custodians of the land and waters on which I work and live, and pay my respects to the Elders of the past, present and emerging.
