YOUNG VINNIES COOK FOR THE HOMELESS

On Thursday after school, a group of 16 students from Young Vinnies met in the Food rooms to cook meals for the homeless. We made around 80 individual meals of butter chicken curry and chilli con carne which were collected on Friday morning by volunteers from:

  • Grace Café Drop-in Centre in Joondalup
  • Passages Outreach Centre for teenagers in Perth and Peel
  • Tom Fisher House - a residential Outreach Centre in East Perth

We were told that Grace Café served our meals for their lunch today and named the menu 'Sacred Heart Day'. We make the homeless smile when they read the label on the food containers “Cooked with love by the students at Sacred Heart College”. The recipients really enjoy a home cooked meal.

Thank you to McLoughlin Butchers in Malaga who donated the meat.

It is always worthwhile cooking for the homeless because it makes them feel special and it’s nice to know that Young Vinnies are helping those in need in our community.

Young Vinnies meetings are held on Mondays at the start of lunch in the RNDM Foyer - new members are most welcome.

KIMBERLEY MISSION UPDATE

It is all go, go, go! Last week, our Kimberley Mission students worked tirelessly during their lunchtime to sell their crafty wares to raise money for the mission.

In our second Mother’s Day Stall, students were able to purchase some beautiful hand crafted gifts for the special women in their lives. A whopping $2,000 was raised for Kimberley organisations that support indigenous communities.

A special thank you needs to be given to the amazing people who work for the months ahead in preparing some extra special gifts. These people are volunteers in the Sacred Heart Community and I would personally like to thank them for all their support:

Glenda Green, Terase Yerkourch, Joanne McVee and Lynne Fraser - you ladies are awesome.

Another special thank you to our bouquet provider Mandy from The Petal Shed for her $60 raffle prize donation.

Our next fundraiser will be a democracy sausage sizzle on Saturday 21 May at the College's national election voting booths. Come down, vote and support the Mission!

Thanks again.
