What is TLI?
The Tutor Learning Initiative (TLI) is designed to support students whose learning has been disrupted as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The program involves the withdrawal of students from the classroom for targeted sessions based on their individual learning needs. TLI teachers have formulated individual plans based on data, then implement sessions based solely on these goals. Being a fluid program, it may be common for students to move in and out to meet individual needs. So far, Mrs Cunningham has seen 43 students from grades 2 and 3 and Mrs Green has seen 43 students from grades 4 and 5!
During Semester One the Tutor Learning Initiative has been engaging budding mathematicians from years 2 to 5 to build their understanding of place value. Mrs Cunningham and Mrs Green have been amazed with the development of skills and knowledge amongst their students, but more importantly been thrilled to see confidence levels soar!
Students participating in the Extension program as part of the TLI have applied their thinking and reasoning to challenging problem solving tasks, and worked hard to build upon their multiplicative thinking skills.
