Principal's Notes

Dear Parents and Families,

We are nearly half way through the term and the teachers will be completing class assessments and beginning to write comments for the end of semester reports. The reports will be in the our normal setting after altered reports for the last two years.  Please remember that we have a student free day coming up on the Thursday 2nd of June.

Rubbish

We have had an issue with rubbish blowing out of our bins and some of the local towns people have kindly been picking it up for us.  Could parents please make an effort to reduce waste as our bins are overflowing.  We have also purchased another bin from the Shire to help with this problem.

NAPLAN

The Year 3 and 5 students have finally finished all their NAPLAN tests with the last few students completing their last catch up test yesterday. The completed writing tests are now waiting for collection from the courier. Miss Thompson has spent many hours organizing and supervising the students. Well done to all our students and they have reported back that it was not too bad!

Rapid Antigen Testing

We are still having some students who are testing positive, so continue to be careful and watch for any symptoms. The Department of Education has advised that from 23rd May, families will no longer have to RAT students twice a week if they have no symptoms. Testing will only need to take place if a student has symptoms or if they are a close contact of a confirmed case and are required to test five days of the seven day isolation period. Rapid Antigen tests will continue to be provided to students during the rest of Term 2.  You are still required to advise school of any positive results and register the results online.

School Council

On Wednesday night, we held our monthly meeting via WebEx with nearly all our councillors in attendance. We have updated our Anaphylaxis, Digital Learning and Child Safety policies. All our current school policies are listed on the school website. Over the school holidays, the land surveyor completed a survey of the school grounds as part of the Stadium refurbishment and we are still awaiting any further updates.

National Walk to Safely School Day

This morning, the whole school went for a big walk around the town as part of the National Walk to Safely School Day. Walking to school can be a bit tricky when we have many of our students travelling to school on the bus. So, to promote road safety and increasing our fitness, we went for our big walk instead. We then celebrated this day by having some delicious fruit before we began our learning. Thanks to Tammy and Justin for preparing our fruit too.

Have a lovely weekend,

Lisa Ferrier
