School Council President

Education Week and maths afternoon

On Wednesday we celebrated Education Week with a maths afternoon. Children (and their parents/carers) were challenged to visit different classrooms and solve a range of maths problems.

It was a great afternoon and the enthusiasm from the students, families and teachers was wonderful to see. A massive thank-you to Mrs Thornton, the teachers and the students who helped plan and run the activity.

Everyone who solved at least one problem will be entered in the draw to win prizes with the winners being announced at assembly on Friday morning.

New school beanie

The community has spoken! We had a great response to our survey with more than 120 people choosing their favourite style.

The winner was the "ACPS" pom-pom style that received nearly 2/3rds of the vote and that is the design we will adopt as our official school beanie. We hope to have them on sale sometime this winter.

Tasty Treats sale

It's back! One of our students' (or at least my children's) favourite days. We will be holding our second Tasty Treats sale of the year next Friday and would love it if many people as possible could help us put a big smile on the children’s faces by donating home-made brownies, cupcakes, cookies, slices or any other treat that kids would enjoy.

Almost anything goes (no nuts though) and please provide a list of ingredients along with your treats. Treats can be dropped off at the office on Thursday afternoon or at the canteen on Friday morning between 8:45 and 9:15.

Everything will be selling for $1 or $2 depending on the size so don’t forget to send a gold coin or two along with your child(ren) if you’d like them to buy something!

Kilometre Club

Our Kilometre Club continues to be hugely popular with our students - more than half of our school population has run on at least one day, with many students running multiple times per week. It's a great way to warm up for the day and burn off some energy before school begins...and gain some fitness as well!

Our student leaders are doing an amazing job of managing the sessions and making sure to carefully record the number of laps each student runs. Students who complete 5/10/15/etc. km (in total, not in one morning!) are presented with certificates acknowledging their achievement.

School Council meeting and AGM

We held our AGM and May School Council meeting on Tuesday night. The AGM is a chance for community members to attend to review our annual report and ask any questions they might have.

Once the AGM had finished, we moved on to our regular council business, passing a number of finance reports and approving policies that had been reviewed and updated.

Meredith Thornton presented her Principal's Report with a particular emphasis on the School Wide Positive Behaviour Program that we are running. This is designed to acknowledge, reward and encourage positive behaviour from our students and includes the Kilometre Club, the YAGA awards and the smiley face stickers that you may have noticed coming home attached to your children's uniform.

The school is required to publish an Annual Report on its website each year. Our 2021 Annual Report can be found on our website's publication page.

School Disco

We will be sending out more information in the next few days but please save the date for our next school disco on the evening of Tuesday June 21. We have booked an exciting new DJ and are looking forward to an evening of music, dancing and lots of fun for our students.

Enjoy your weekend,
