IDAHOBIT

This week we celebrated the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.  There were some fun activities on offer at lunchtime thanks to our visitors from Headspace, including face painting and making beaded keyrings.  Staff and students were also invited to wear rainbow accessories with their school uniform.  Thank you to our wonderful Student Wellbeing Coordinator, Leah Rintoule, for organising the event.

Year 9 Camp and Citizenship Project

Year 9 students enjoyed getting back to nature and the great outdoors at our two Yarra Valley camps last week.  They pitched their own tents and took part in a range of adventure activities and nature walks during the camp, often stepping outside their personal comfort zone to try new things.  We’re very proud of the way they took on new challenges and worked collaboratively with their peers.  Special thanks to Samantha Francis for coordinating the camp and to the many staff who went along, making the camp experience such a positive one for our students.

When not at camp, Year 9s have taken part in a Year 9 Citizenship Project.  The culmination of a series of E4L lessons of brainstorming, planning and preparation, students came up with a range of fantastic ideas for further improving our school such as sporting competitions with neighbouring schools, increasing access to drinking fountains and sustainability initiatives such as litter reduction in the school grounds.

Seeking prize donations for our fundraising raffle to support this year’s school production, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown!  A message from the production team

Rehearsals are well underway and we are so excited to be able to bring our production to the stage at last!  This will be our first live student performance since the lockdowns and we look forward to our community coming together for this event. To help keep ticket prices as low as possible, student leaders will be conducting a fundraising raffle with prizes drawn on closing night.  If you or your business would be willing to contribute a prize to be included in the raffle, we would very much welcome your support!  All contributors names will be mentioned and thanked in the production programme.  Please be in touch if you have any questions.  Donations can be left at the front office any time and will be gratefully received!  Seats are now on sale!  You can book yours here.
