Sports Update

On Monday May 23 the 5  'All Boys Netball' teams went to Jubilee Park to compete in Senior, Intermediate and Junior Boys Netball.

  • Senior A Team - Year 11’s (Coach Mackenzie)
  • Intermediate A Team - Mixed 10’s and 9’s (Coach Kingston)
  • Intermediate B Team - Mixed 10’s and 9’s (Coach Cox)
  • Junior A Team - Year 8’s (Coach Booth)
  • Junior B Team - Year 7’s (Coach Dyring)

With 15 rounds of Netball there was plenty of games going on and plenty of EMC parents made it down to watch and support their boys. After a cold start to the day the weather also turned it on and it was a really enjoyable day to be out in the sunshine. Our boys won plenty of games across their respective pools for the day and had some close losses too. They took a little getting used to the obstruction and stepping rules but all in all each team played really well and represented the school well.

Of our 5 teams our Junior B Team went undefeated and won their pool comfortably.

On the 23rd of May EMC took 50 students out to Jubilee Park to participate in boys’ netball across all year levels, I am in year 8 and our team had lots of skill after making it through tryouts. In the end we didn’t make it through to the next round, but we all tried our best and we won more than 50% of our games.

In our team all the goals were coming from our two up front players Kian and Ash but all thanks to the rest of the team that were getting the ball to them, our team gave away lots of penalty because all of us play (ed) basketball and (or) football.

Our player of the day went to Tanjore for trying his best and showing all the THRIVE values by helping the other team if they fell over, volunteering to start on the bench if nobody else wanted to and also being a good team player.

Also, a big thank you to all the teachers and helpers the volunteered to come and coach or referee so that we can have a fun time.

Boys Football

The boys played 3 games against Frankston High, Mt Erin and Patto River. Unfortunately they suffered two close losses in their first two games going down by less than 2 goals in both games. They did however finish off with a strong win easily accounting for Patterson River. The final was played between Frankston and Mt. Erin, with Frankston winning the day overall. Our boys finished 3rd.

Girls Netball

Our girls had 4 games today and won ALL of their games, Patterson River was the only team who came close to beating our girls but they still won comfortably by 8 points. Our girls will now progress through to the next stage, great effort by the girls and well done to super coach Maddi!

Girls Soccer

This girls team has had a lot of success over the last few years and has gone as far as state on numerous occasions, they started off playing Frankston and went into half time with scores tied 1-1. Frankston came out after the break and got the job done beating our girls 3-1. Their next game was against Carrum Downs who the girls beat very comfortably 15-0. Unfortunately the loss against Frankston meant they couldn’t progress but still finished 2nd overall.
