VCAL Update

This week our VCAL students participated in their Community Impact Projects. Students identified an issue within our community and planned an activity to give back. We had a number of activities run this week which have been entirely organised by VCAL students. The students were responsible for completing the relevant documentation for School Council, advertising their project and communicating with a number of stakeholders. Some of the projects included:

  • Red Shield Appeal
  • Free Dress Day
  • BBQ Fundraiser
  • Canned Food collection
  • Clothing Drive
  • Education Sessions for Year 7 and 8 students to bust the myths surrounding homelessness
  • Volunteering their time to work with a number of charities for the day such as Salvation Army, MSFIN and Theodora's

Our VCAL students would like to thank the community for all the support they have given to these projects and to the organisations for working with them to achieve a goal.

On May 5th our wonderful year 11 VCAL students discovered and walked the challenging yet beautiful Moorooduc Quarry Flora and Fauna Reserve. This gave our students an opportunity to test their physical capabilities. We had the amazing Lily Cook with us who shared with students her experience of walking the Kakoda Track which aligned well with our ANZAC unit. The students and staff had a terrific afternoon.

Year 11 VCAL

Week 7: (6th June – 10th June): Year 11 VCAL Redemption and Goal Setting Sessions

All students will be allocated an interview time where they will meet with one of their VCAL teachers to discuss their progress in VCAL. This interview is compulsory and an important step towards ensuring they get the most out of the program this year. Any students who have work overdue will be required in Redemption. This is also compulsory for students with work outstanding to ensure that they are able to meet the VCAL outcomes for the Semester. If a student is up to date they only need to come to school for their interview.

Can I please ask that students familiarise themselves with the below interview schedule: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1J9GMZltgOb1ekiR1xUWz7y-2FuG3YuUcwQaWIs-xQ1I/edit
