How to use life's little transitions to find balance and happiness.

 

Recently, we were privileged to have Dr Adam Fraser’s come out to speak with staff and parents on some of his cutting edge research on how to get the small stuff right. The 'Third Space' is the moment of transition between a one activity and the next. As we transition between tasks if we pause to ‘Reflect, Rest and Reset’ it can help us ‘show up’ with new focus and mindset. Using the Third Space can help us find better work-life balance and boost happiness in the home. 

 

 

Adam also shared research by Shelley Gable regarding the power of Active Constructive Responding. Shelley discovered that what bonds and strengthens relationships is how we respond and acknowledge the good times. That is, how do we celebrate the success and achievements of others. There are four possible responses but it only active constructive that has the strengthening effect. If you want to boost connection with a partner, colleague or child – look for opportunities to have an active constructive response.
