Australian Maths Competition

Baimbridge College held our inaugural Australian Maths Compeition (AMC) last term. Ninety students were enrolled to represent the school, and increase of 50% from last year!

The AMC is an engaging 30-problem competition that demonstrates the importance and relevance of mathematics in students' everyday lives. AMC is an international event with students also participating from countries such as New Zealand, Singapore, Fiji, China and Malaysia. Results will be available in Term 4. All students receive a certificate, and prize winners are awarded and additional monetary sum. We wish our students all the best on their maths journey.

Science Faculty

The staff and students of the science faculty were busy during term 3 with a mix of excursions and incursions along with starting new topics.

The year 7 students started to delve into the world of physics and learned about the forces of the world and how they interact with each other. This ended with our students creating their own parachutes to investigate.

The year 8 students studying STEAM were invited to participate in a robotics and drone incursion at Baimbridge College. Students had a great time learning about drones and trying to fly them through obstacle courses.

The year 9 and 10 students started their new middle years science courses with biology students dissecting brains and getting the message across students exploring how sound and light travel to facilitate communication.

A small group of our year 11 chemistry students visited the Victorian Space Science Education Centre and explored how scientists in space agencies ensure the health of astronauts and cosmonauts are maintained in space. To do this, they used their knowledge of chemical reactions they learned in class to conduct three separate experiments which involved analyzing the nutrient content of supplements.

HAPE Faculty

Students in Advanced Education last term participated in a range of team building activities whilst exploring a range of ways to interact with the environment. They also enjoyed a day excursion at Port Fairy scuba diving. The group trained and gained confidence in the skills and apparatus before scuba diving at Pea Soup beach. This term the students are gathering information and planning their camp.

We welcomed Aisha and Muhktar from Palace Martial Arts to the school last term. They ran multiple lunchtime sessions with the students. Everyone who participated had a great time and learnt new skills.
