Year 8 English Narrative

For the Yr 8 English Unit: Transformation of Traditional Tales students were asked  to transform a traditional tale studied in class for a new audience. Below is an outstanding narrative crafted by Lena in 8P.

RUFTS is back for Term 2

Term 2 started with a School Development Day (SDD), professional development and learning time for teachers. One of the teachers’ workshops was the RUFTS workshop.

RUFTS has new poster!

Since we implemented RUFTS and other learning programs to help our numeracy skills, Canterbury Girls High School’s numeracy skills improved significantly.

This year, in Term 1, 92% of our Year 10 reached HSC Minimum Standard in Numeracy!

Well done to our Year 10 students and their teachers: we cannot improve our numeracy skills effectively without improving our literacy skills, so on behalf of the students, I would like to thank all the teachers who have been working tirelessly with their students in improving their literacy and numeracy skills every day.

Back to SDD, teachers from each faculty were busy working and planning their Term 2 lessons for RUFTS Questions.

There were faculty-based competitions, and the winners were:

* Winner for Group template: ENGLISH(judged by Ms Belinda Conway)

* Winner for the RUFTS lesson plan: PD/H/PE (judged by Ms Robyn Andrews)

* Winner for the student 5 survey questions: Maths/Science (judged by Ms Julie Ronayne)

Thank you so much for the judges for their decisions: very close.

The prizes were delivered to the faculties.

PLEASE enjoy using RUFTS in class with your teachers (a small habit, a big difference!): There will be more prizes for Faculties who use RUFTS frequently and effectively: deadline is week 9 Term 2!

4 week-RUFTS Quiz competition for Term 2 will start in week 5 (week 5 – week 8): everyone can enter, teaching and non-teaching staff and students Years 7-12.
