Persistent Lateness to School – Tuesday Detentions starting Term 2

Year 7 Personal Learning Plans

All Year 7 have been asked to complete a Personal Learning Plan, identifying their 2021 Learning Goals.

All students have been sent a link through their Department of Education email to a Google Form to complete the 2021 Personal Learning Plan.

After students have set learning goals in their PLPs, they will be asked to do Student Partners in Learning reflection surveys (via Google Forms) later in Terms 2 and 3, about progress in learning.

Then in term 4, all students will develop a Learning Presentation for 2021, which will be delivered to a staff member and a family member, about your progress in learning in 2021.  We will give more information in Term 3- 4, to help preparation, and time and assistance to make the presentation.  A full school day in week 5 of Term 4 will be allocated for preparing the Learning Presentations.  Presentations will be scheduled for weeks 7 & 8 of the term.

Student will have Year meeting later this term to outline the process. Information for families will be sent home this term.  Family members will be invited to participate in the reflection and presentations as the school year progresses.

Please ask your child if they have completed their Personal Learning Plan!

Year 11 Progress Interviews

Year 11 students are currently completing Progress Interviews with the deputy Principal. Students have been asked to complete the Senior Student Survey to prepare for the interview.

The focus of the meetings will be:

• To discuss the homework/study and focus needed to succeed at senior levels

• To outline the difference between homework and study

• To determine student’s commitment to completing the HSC and how they are managing their time with other commitments

A review of the Term 1 Progress Report, individual attendance data, and pattern of study is included. Students indicate their goals and identify any areas of concern in order to plan support.

Study timetables are discussed and a model timetable, proforma and time management activity has been issued to all students.

Year 11 families are encouraged to check in with their child about completion of the survey.

Thank you to families who have made contact with the school about ways in which we can assist individual students to achieve to their potential.  Please do not hesitate to make contact via email or phone call.

Soon Year 11 will be participating in mindfulness and stress management workshops with our school counsellors, as part of the Personal best program during DEAR time on Thursdays and Fridays.  A small group of students is currently doing a Study Smarter program during Personal Best time with the breakthru organisation who work closely with the school to support students to cope with the demands of senior study.
