Principal  Message

With one more week of Term 1 to go, I have been reflecting on what a busy, yet positive term we have had at Warrandyte Primary School.  Apart from our 3 day lock-down, we have had a relatively smooth term. Certainly compared to 2020, the teachers and students are in a nice rhythm in their classrooms and every time I go into a classroom I see nothing but engaged students, working brilliantly in their lesson.

We have noticed that the younger children are particularly tired this week and this is likely a result of long periods learning from home last year and adjusting to everyday in a classroom.  Considering that our Year 1's only really had two terms of onsite learning, they have been engaging with each other so well and are following classroom norms and routines.

This week the Victorian Government announced further easing of restrictions under COVIDSafe Settings, effective from 6pm on Friday 26 March 2021. The changes include:

  • an increase to gathering limits, including up to 200 people in public outdoor spaces and up to 100 people in private households
  • removal of the requirement to wear face masks in retail settings
  • where applicable, density limits change from one person per four square metres to one person per two square metres.

This is welcome news for schools and also means that we will be able to plan a Family Fun night in Term 2 and finally come together and spend time together as a school community.

Our new Canteen trial was announced yesterday and we are all very excited to be able to provide this opportunity at Warrandyte Primary School.  JAYCees Catering offers outstanding quality food, all handmade and preservative free. Racheal has put together a great range of food and drinks for us to try over the first 4 weeks of term 2.  Thank you to Michelle McIntosh, one of our parents for helping to put this trial together for us.

See you all next week.  Have a great weekend.

Take care,

Nieta
