GROWING UP IN AUSTRALIA

SPX Students involved in Growing up in Australia: The Longitudinal Study of Australian Children.  Selected SPX students in Year 7 2016 are part of a national cohort of students who are involved in an ongoing voluntary longitudinal study, in which 10,000 students across Australia, and their families have been interviewed every two years. Information is also collected from the school, but only and strictly for the selected students involved, as their parents and carers have provided written consent.

The study began in 2003, is being conducted as a partnership between the Department of Social Services (DSS), the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS), and the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). The purpose of the study is to provide the Government with information to help develop policies and programs that support children and families in Australia, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to this worthwhile goal.
