Kids in the Kitchen Cookbook

Dear St James Families,

As part of a personal social justice project to stand in solidarity with members of the St James School and Parish Community, Year 5 student Sophie Read and a band of fellow year 5 students have created a recipe book to raise funds for St Vincent De Paul this Christmas.

Supported by her mum, Prue and classroom teacher, Mr James McMahon, Sophie has created a Cook book called Kids in the Kitchen. This is a must buy this Christmas if you’re looking for an opportunity to support members of our community in need, and our creative year 5 students and families :)

Kids in the Kitchen - Is a 23 page soft cover cookbook from some of the children and families of Year 5. Recipes range from easy meals, handy treats and fancy desserts. All profits going to St Vincent De Paul families as money vouchers to ease their burden this Christmas and hopefully put a smile on their faces. Images on the actual book will be clear, attached is a screenshot of the book. For Christmas delivery please order by 14th November 9pm.

The cookbook costs $12.50 and can be purchased via the Try Booking link below.

Thank you for your support!

DONATE SOCCER CLOTHES/BOOTS

One of our Mums, Liliana Fraser (Jack Yr1 & Josh Yr3) has passed on the following message:

Has your child grown since he or she last played soccer? Would you like to donate last season's clothes and soccer boots to some of the world's poorest young players?

I'm calling on all parents I know to look through their child's wardrobe for any soccer items that are no longer needed, to be sent to a children's football group in Cartagena, Colombia.

Donations can be be dropped off in Brighton or Bentleigh area. I'm happy to arrange pick up, so please send me a message to organise this (Ph. 0413 695 785). Please make sure the clothes are in good condition.

This is a small appeal to help a community in need, a place that is very close to my heart, Cartagena. These kids come from very poor communities and have no chance of buying their own gear. I'll be taking the collected kits on the first week of December to bright up their Christmas. I hope you can contribute!! It'll make a world of difference for them.

Dear St James Families,

We would appreciate any donations of new or near perfect picture story, novel and up-to-date non-fiction books and accept reading material appropriate for kindergarten to high school children.

A labelled tub is  in the Year 1QF classroom for your donations. We will be collecting books up until 31st October 2019.

The books will then be given to Fiji Book Drive Ltd, an Australian charity, who will then ship the books to Fiji where they will be distributed to schools according to need. For more information about this company please go to their website www.fijibookdrive.org

If you have any queries please contact either Candice Murray-Beckman (0439 397 667 ) or myself (aferrari@stjamesbrighton.catholic.edu.au).

Together let’s help make a difference in the lives of less privileged children through the gift of books.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Kind regards,

Antoinette Ferrari.

Foundation mum and Year 1 teacher.
