WELLBEING

Dear Parents and Families,

As a family we love to watch “The Block” it has taken up a fair proportion of our night time viewing for the last few months. I am sure many of you love to watch it also. Recently, my husband and I were slightly shocked to be watching advertisements for shows coming on after the block which are not family viewing. For any of you who are regular watchers of “The Block” know what show I am talking about. Unfortunately on occasions our children are exposed to content and material that is beyond their years. Most of this we can control, some of this we cannot.

I guess my message is to ensure that your children are not watching content that they do not have the maturity to understand. The same can be said for online gaming or youtubing. Seemingly unharmful programs may look like children's viewing but unless you have watched a program that you know is not PG or G it may contain inappropriate content.

Common Sense Media is a website that gives ratings for parents to easily access information in regards to the age appropriateness of movies, documentaries and books.

Another great website that has recently come to my attention is the eSafety website. Here you will find advice for parents and carers to have safe experiences online. Please use this link for advice on eSafety with your children and good habits to instill in your children from an early age.

If at anytime you read an article or come across a program that you feel would be good for the St James Community to be aware of in regards to Student Wellbeing at St James please feel free to pass on to me.

Thank- you!

Year 1 Mass

We look forward to seeing all the Year 1 students at their class Mass this Sunday in the Pop Up Church at 9am. This is a great opportunity for our St James Community to come together with the Parish in the celebration of the Eucharist.

Year 6 Confirmation

We ask that in the coming week you keep the Year 6 students in your prayers. Over the last few weeks that students have been preparing to celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation and be present to the Church community as young adults.

The students will have a reflection day this Wednesday and we will welcome Fr Brendan Hayes before we celebrate the sacrament on Thursday evening at St Joan of Arc Church.

If you have any questions regarding dates or the Sacramental Program please do not hesitate to contact myself or your classroom teacher.
