Year 9 Dance Excursion

Nossal's Dance students attended the Arts Centre in Melbourne on 4 March to watch an intriguing performance called ‘Samsara’ as part of the AsiaTopa festival. Samsara is an unprecedented expression of cultural exchange through the language of dance, drawing on the diverse disciplines of Chinese folk dance, the classical Indian dance form Kathak, ballet and contemporary dance. The performance was inspired by the historical events in the 16th Century Chinese classic book ‘Journey to the West’.

The excursion also included a tour of Hamer Hall and the NGV. The current exhibition inside the Arts Centre was called ‘Australian Music Vault’ and is a celebration of the Australian contemporary music story – past, present and future.

For most of the students it was their first time at a Dance performance and they all thoroughly enjoyed it. I encourage the students to take their friends and family back to the Arts Centre for the exhibitions and upcoming performances such as music, dance, opera, theatre, comedy and family shows.
