Student Successes

Indigenous Winter School

Year 12 student Nyassa Wright has been notified as a successful applicant for the Nura Gila Indigenous Winter School at the University of New South Wales.

The program runs from July 3 to July 8 and involves an extensive timetable which includes three full faculty days in Nyassa’s chosen area (Science), academic sessions, cultural activities, excursions and night activities.

The school aims to assist students to identify their path of interest and further study in that field.  Nyassa will join approximately 100 Indigenous students from around the country and we wish her well for what will be an exciting opportunity and insight into the life of a university student.

Netball Success

India Johnson, a Year 11 student at Cowra High School, represented Western Region at the Combined High Schools State Netball carnival held at Minto in Campbelltown from 30 May -  1 June.

The Western team was made up of girls from Orange, Dubbo, Blayney, Bathurst and Cowra and coached by Tegan Dray from Orange.

The  team was extremely competitive in a very strong field that involved 11 teams from across the State.
